Comparison

Vokyt and the others

Several tools add sound to an article. They don't solve the same problem: here is which one to pick, honestly.

Versus text-to-speech

BeyondWords, Trinity Audio or ElevenLabs Audio Native turn the whole article into audio with a synthetic voice. It is fast and needs no recording.

Vokyt does the opposite: a few seconds of your real voice, where they add something. An opinion, a story, what you didn't dare write. Readers don't come to hear the article they can already read; they come to hear the author.

The two work together: a full audio version for those who prefer listening, and your voice notes for the personal touch.

Versus SoundCloud or Spotify

These platforms are built for podcasts: long episodes, listened to on their side. Their embedded player, loaded in a frame, shows their brand, doesn't add the transcript to your page's text and sets its own cookies for your readers.

Vokyt is built for articles: a light player (under 15 KB) in your theme's colours, the transcript in the page, and cookie-free stats.

Versus a plain audio file

The WordPress Audio block is free and cookie-free. But you record elsewhere, level the sound yourself, and there is no transcript and no stats: no way to know if anyone listens.

When to pick something else

  • You want every article as a full audio version without recording anything: pick a text-to-speech tool.
  • You publish 30-minute-plus episodes for podcast apps: pick a podcast host.
  • You publish one voice note a year and don't care about stats: the Audio block is enough.

If you want readers to hear your voice, at the right paragraph, with the transcript and no cookies: that is exactly what Vokyt does.
